Selected images taken on and near the Aegean Sea are currently on display at Gallery Citronne, Poros. The exhibtion, entitled "Wooden Boats of the Aegean, 1954-1964" opened on 23 April and will run through 29 May. The exibition is running a few weeks prior to, as well as during, the fourth Traditional Boat Show, run by the Traditional Boat Association of Greece, which will take place in the harbor of Poros from 19 May through 22 May 2016. www.traditionalboatshow.gr


Robert McCabe's photographs, particularly those taken in Greece, have been exhibited publicly since as far back as the 1950s. Most recently his exhibitions have included:

Greek Seas: A Photographic Journey in Time at the Benaki Museum, Pireos St. Annexe 138 Pireos & Andronikou St., Athens Greece. The exhbition showcased hundreds of photographs by many photographers, including Robert McCabe, depicting Greece's link to the seas through the centuries.

Patmos: Pathways of Mystery was on exhibit at The Old School in Chora on the Island of Patmos, Greec under the auspices of the Mayor and Cultural Center. The exhibit included approximately 25 photographs selected from the show's images attempt to show a slowly vanishing Patmos but also aspects of daily Patmian life and tradition resisting the passing of time. Forgotten landscapes and people who may not exist anymore live through the respect with which Robert McCabe's discreet lens depicted them.

China - Greece: Ancient Peoples, Changing Worlds opened at the Museum of Asian Art at the Palace of St. Michael and St. George in Corfu, Greece in October 2012. The exhibition showcased130 color photographs of these two countries illustrating the rapid changes that have, and are taking place in each. The Greek photographs are from the 1950s and 1960s and the Chinese from 2006. The book includes all the images in the exhibition (with the same title). The exhibition ran through September 2013.

Greece: Images of an Enchanted Land, 1954-1965, shown at the Hellenic Center, London, UK. This exhibition was presented by the Hellenic Center in association with the Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris Foundation Museum of Cycladic Art in Greece. It was sponsored by Aegean Airlines and curated by Parisian-born curator, critic and photography historian, Gabriel Bauret.

Greece Photos: Citronne Gallery, Island of Poros, Greece

Paris, Mois de la Photo 2008. This exhibition of a selection of Greek photographs ran at Galerie Sit Down at 4 rue Sainte Anastase near the Picasso Museum from 7 November 2008 through 17 January 2009. A catalogue has been published in connection with this exhibition.

On the Road in the '50s: Paris, Italy, North America and Points South, Monodendri, Greece. This exhibition ran from August 2007 through July 2008 and included black and white photos primarily from the 1950s and early 1960s. McCabe's publication On the Road with a Rollei in the '50s was the catalogue designed to compliment this exhibition, held at the Rizarios Exhibition Center, Monodendri, Epiros Greece.

Greece Photos at the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, New York City. In honor of the Greek heritage of Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain, the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, Park Avenue NYC hosted an exhibition of nearly 70 select photographs chosen from McCabe's book Greece: Images of an Enchanted Land. The exhibition ran from mid-July through August 2007.

Havana, Cuba Photos, Thessaloniki Greece. This exhibition opened on 7 June 2007 with Mojitos and Latic music at the National Bank of Greece Cultural Center. It ran through 22 July 2007.

Havana, Cuba Photos - Athens Greece April 2007. The exhibition opened on 16 April 2007 at the Eynard Mansion in Athens. It was sponsored by the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation.

Greece Photos "Santorini and the Aegean: the Innocent Years"; Island of Santorini Greece. This exhibition was held on the island of Santorini from 7 July through 25 August 2006. Of the 109 black and white photographs, 48 were from his book Greece: Images of an Enchanted Land. The remainder were unpublished photographs of Santorini taken mostly in 1954 and 1955 before the devastating earthquake of 1956. The exhibition was sponsored by the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation and the Petros M. Nomikos Conference Center.
